B.F. Scott is the pen name of Barbara Warner, author of fantasy fiction where curses whisper, dragons soar, and love burns brighter than fire. From a young age, imaginative stories filled my mind — though I didn’t yet know how to release them. It wasn’t until college that a writing course unlocked my passion. My professor even wanted to publish one of my essays, Swimming with Orcas, in the campus newspaper. At the time, new to the love of writing and shy about sharing it, I turned the opportunity down. Years later, when my youngest child was three, I began writing about dragons. That spark became the To Fly with Dragons series. At first, I called it Chasing Dragons, but the name never felt quite right — so I changed it to the title that now holds true to the story’s heart. Life has many paths, and I believe determination is what turns our hopes and dreams into reality. Through raising a family and a full-time career with the Postal Service, my determination to be a writer pushed me to craft the stories that filled my imagination. No matter how big or small, modest or ambitious, dreams are worth chasing — because regret is far heavier than the long journey it takes to make them real. I am a Christian with a deep belief in God. While I’m no theologian (I could argue with a rock and lose!), my faith shines through in conversation and, at times, quietly weaves itself into my stories. My fantasy books are not Christian fiction, yet elements of my belief often find their way into the heart of my worlds. After 31 years of service with the Postal Service, I am now retired and devoting myself fully to writing. Join me on this journey into worlds of dragons, curses, and timeless love.
